Please remember to bring in a piece of fruit per child, per week to share at snack time, the children are also fond of cucumber/carrots/peppers/Frubes. If your child has any allergies, please advise a member of staff.
Clothing and Lunchboxes
We like to play outside and go for walks, therefore a named change of footwear is required, also make sure that your child has some warm clothing to put on. Lunchboxes to be named also please.
CONTACT DETAILS
Please check that we are in receipt of correct and up to date phone numbers and email addresses, and give some thought to the ‘chosen people’ on your emergency contact sheet, are they still able to collect your child this term?
READING
If you would like to read a short story to the group at register time, or have a ‘special skill’ then please make yourself known.
Key Workers
We do try to keep your child with the same key worker throughout their time at Little Doves but sometimes when a child changes their days, it isn’t always possible, you will be advised later this week of your child’s keyworker. We discuss the children daily and any targets are decided on between the staff as a group.
If at any time you wish to have a brief or more detailed chat about your child then please just ask.

SEPTEMBER 2015
Hello everyone,
Welcome back to a new term, it is lovely to see some familiar faces and also great to welcome some new children to our pre-school.

TOPIC
During the next 7 weeks we will have a lot of fun covering the seven areas of learning which are:-
Personal Social and Emotional Development/Communication and Language/Physical Development/Mathematics/Literacy/Understanding the World/Expressive Arts and Design. If you require a further insight into the categories, please do not hesitate to speak to me, I am more than happy to discuss this with you.
Our topic is “Fairytales” and I believe that this will give us plenty of opportunities to cover all of the above areas.

BUILDING WORK
This is not complete, so please be patient, it will be worth waiting for I am sure. Until our outside area is ready, we will continue to go for nature walks and visit the local park. Therefore, please ensure that your child arrives each day with suitable clothing and named change of footwear. Please also name your child’s lunchbox.

Our topic this half term is ‘Minibeasts’, we love this topic and use it in our planning every couple of years. It is fun and covers the 7 areas of learning with ease and enables us to make extensions for the older children who sadly will be leaving us all too soon.

Sainsbury’s vouchers

Please continue to save these for us, the collection box is where the lunchboxes are stored.

Safeguarding

As a pre-school we have to follow Ofsted’s guidelines, there are a couple of things that I wish to highlight. Apart from the Little Doves mobile, no other phones are permitted to be used either by staff or parents in the main hall.

Should you child have injured themselves at home, please advise us at drop off. We have to record this in our diary to prove that they have not injured themselves during our session. If your child hurts themselves during one of our sessions, it is recorded in our accident book and whoever is collecting your child that day has to sign that they are aware.

If your child is absent, it is always helpful to advise us in the morning. If your child is absent for more than 2 days and you haven’t advised us of the reason, we are obliged to contact you. If your child is absent for more than 2 weeks (maybe holiday) please advise us in writing or by email as it is our duty to advise the ‘funding team’ . Any problems please just speak to me.

Clothing

We will continue to visit the park and various other nature spots in the village. The children are getting much quicker at getting ready and on the whole are very sensible when we are out and we get many comments from passers-by about how well behaved, sweet they are etc.,

Please ensure that your child always has something warm to wear and that they have suitable footwear. It wouldn’t be fair to the group to cancel an outing because one child does not have the correct clothing.

Artwork

Please take time to look at the artwork and photos that are on display

Meet the Teacher

Please make an appointment with your child’s key worker to discuss their progress. This should only take about 10 minutes. A list of keyworkers is displayed on our notice board.
